Lars_Von_Trier_title

Lars von Trier is an internationally renowned director and ‘missionary’ for purer filmmaking. Born in Denmark in 1956, he started making short films at the age of 11 with an 8 mm camera given to him by his mother. Since then he has made over 25 films, won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and founded the revolutionary Dogme movement.

Lars von Trier inspired us to create the Cineclub Manifesto and shaped our rationale and approach to ‘purer’ youth production in the UK. Therefore we are very proud to pay homage to the Dogme Manifesto and delighted that Lars von Trier is our patron and an ambassador for our work.

“I am honored to give my support to Cineclub in their efforts to help young people learn the skills needed to become a filmmaker – problem-solving, risk-taking and above all resilience!”
