School kids at a matinee used to mean truancy but The Tricycle cinema was full of youngsters last Wednesday!

Teenage directors aged 13 – 17 from five north west London schools presented their debut work to the Cineclub Young Film Makers Network and endured a nail biting wait to see if they’d earned a coveted C Certificate.

Over a 10 week period, students and teachers from each school, Whitmore High School, Cardinal Hinsley School, Capital City Academy, John Kelly Boys Technology college and Hatch End High school, covered every aspect of the film-making process from storyboarding, scripting, acting and directing, right through to editing and marketing.

Cineclub, the Young Filmmakers network holding premiers and screenings throughout London and culminates in an annual film awards, due on July 11 at the National Film Theatre, Southbank.

Cineclub director, Julia Andrews said: “All the students and teachers have made some fantastically creative and exciting short films and I can’t wait to see their next ones.”
