“I just wanted to send our sincere thanks for a great night on Tuesday, and all the hard work and enthusiasm you have put into the Cineclub project. My son has enjoyed every minute. Because you treated the young people involved like professional film-makers, it has really made them feel that, with hard work, they can have a future in the industry. My son loved the whole process, but particularly acting and now, thanks to this experience, he has found the confidence to join Newbury Youth Theatre and take it further. It has made such a difference to him.”
Dawn Oxley, parent, West Berkshire Cluster

“When I started out doing this I had no knowledge, I had never even picked up a camera, so it was a very sharp learning curve! Its good because I found myself in the same position as the children. Its been a great learning experience for myself and the other teacher, we’ve learnt an awful lot about filmmaking.”
Judith Thomas, Partner Teacher, Bygrove Primary School

“All I want to say is that Cineclub has been a big experience for me, I never know how hard it was to make a film. I won’t stop going to Cineclub no matter what happens!”
Idriss Kargbo, Year 5, Culloden Primary School

“In Cineclub you have a lot of cooperation; nobody fights or anything and we look after each other and help each other and listen.”
Rumina Islam, Year 6, Culloden Primary School

“I feel that at Feltham Community College, Cineclub has opened up opportunities to young people that they would never have thought possible.  The club allows them to exercise their creative flair and produce a product in a media they closely identify with, while learning vital skills such as organisation, teamworking and working under pressure.
Chirag Kothari, Partner Teacher, Feltham Community College

“I cannot praise the work that the Cineclub facilitators have done with the girls enough, they have enriched the outlook of the students and gone a long way to increasing the confidence of some of the more fragile members of the school community. It was wonderful to see them developing and ‘pitching’ their ideas to the rest of the group, directing, performing and making judgements on how to edit and construct in a creative way.”
Corinne Mulcahy, Teacher of Art, Hillview School for Girls

“Poplar Partnership Cineclub went to view the digitally re-mastered Wizard of Oz at Greenwich Picturehouse. After the screening the Picturehouse had agreed for our group to have a backstage tour and we visited the projection room. The group had a great afternoon and the cinema were very accommodating – they made our group very welcome and it was really inspiring for them as young filmmakers to see a classic film and then go backstage at the cinema. I’m sure it will have given them plenty of ideas for next term’s production.”
Rachel Thomas, Partner Teacher, Poplar Partnership Cineclub
