“We favour Cine CLub as a project for lots of reasons - and not just to do with the medium of film itself:
  1. Pupils and teachers learn together and share a joint project - an excellent way to model some of the skills our pupils lack - perseverance, resilience, coping with problems and difficulties
  2. It is also excellent for building purposeful relationships
  3. Pupil evidence (from HM) demonstrates the growth of leadership skills in pupils who take part
  4. The complexity of the short film project makes significant personal, organisational and intellectual demands on pupils. In addition:
  5. it provides them with a powerfully creative tool for expressing their ideas and views
  6. it is being employed to enhance the curriculum for pupils and staff - and not just in Media Studies
  7. as their expertise grows their confidence and ability to compete also grows.
  8. Staff benefit from being able to develop their own film making skills”
Stefani Shedden, Hounslow Gifted and Talented Coordinator (West London Cluster)

”We were amazed at the students' concentation and extended speaking and listening skills during the script writing process and felt that the project stretched the students' collaborative and group work skills beyond anything they had done before.“
Mark Elms, Headteacher Tidemill Primary School (East Cluster)

”By running the club so far we have enthused kids to really make ideas from paper to screening and  made a reality of the idea of extra-curricular clubs. What I really noticed is the difference between Year 10 and Year 12 and how they interacted so well together creating a really good cross-school thing. The technical input has been great and really pushed students towards their own specialisms and as a Head of Media Studies I was surprised to find how much more I learned about the practice of filmmaking in today’s industry.“
Julia Clech-Prince: Sydney Russell School (East Cluster)

”I learned how a film set works. It has been a good experience and I now know how all production works. This helps with my development into university as I am interested in the acting side of things. Basically I learned how to deal with people demanding a lot all the time. My directors are good and have very strong opinions and views on what they want. If this contrasts with mine, I have to learn to deal with it considering I have strong views on how I should act!“
Sean Cowell Blake Year 12, Sydney Russell School

”I learned how to listen to other people’s ideas, It has been very interesting how making a film develops though different stages. I will take all my knowledge and developing skills in my further education.“
Te
leesha Browne Year 12, Sydney Russell School

”Cineclub is a great experience. I feel that if maybe we learned about the history of film and background knowledge about film. Cineclub is a great basis to learn about film. Communication is the key in Cineclub.“
Charlotte Lynch Year 10, Sydney Russell School

”The second film was fun to film as we had more experience and knew what to do. Working with sixth form students was great as we all learnt from each others knowledge and the age group was not an issue. There were problems at the beginning of Cineclub by we overcame them and the films turned out well. Seeing the films at the end makes it all worth it.“
Hameedat Alabede Year 10, Sydney Russell School
