Can you make a film in 30 shots?
In one day a class group of 30 students will work with two professional filmmakers and will create a short film with the objective of telling a story in a 30 shot sequence. Each student must contribute an idea to each shot.

The morning is spent getting your hands on the camera, looking at different shot compositions. Then we look at storyboarding and how it is used to construct a shot by shot account of a scene or story.

Groups will debate a theme or work from a narrative and will construct their storyboard through improv games. They will rehearse the finished storyboard using the camera and live action.

In the afternoon they will shoot the storyboard in sequence and provide an in-camera edit to show the film at the end of the day.

This programme demonstrates high levels of creativity with constraints of time and resources. It also promotes good team work and debating skills and helps aid the progression of literacy through kinaesthetic learning.

Teachers are encouraged to join the workshop so they can learn skills, though not essential.

Cost for the day: £500 plus travel if outside the M25
